By the very nature of your occupation, the majority of commercial drivers (both local and over the road) are excellent safety conscious chauffeurs, male and female alike. So why are you paying exorbitant commercial liability insurance premiums? The answer is quite simple. There are a certain percentage of commercial drivers who throw caution to the wind and create a negative stigma for every other driver throughout the industry. You know who they are and their habits: their equipment isn't always in good shape, maintenance isn't always up to par, They are constantly overloaded, their tires are worn beyond the acceptable range, they speed, tailgate and usually have a "liquid lunch" on a daily basis. Interceptor Ignition Interlocks' engineering team spent more than 3 years, researching and developing the next generation of Ignition Interlocks, the C-2. This ultimate weapon in the war against drunk driving is specifically and exclusively designed for All CDL Drivers.
Since the Commercial market is infinitely different from the Mandate (court ordered installations for convicted DWI offenders) and Voluntary (personal use) markets, totally unique and innovative concepts regarding the function of a Commercial product had to be pioneered. This task was accomplished by attending Truck, Bus and Commercial Vehicle trade shows, and interviewing CDL drivers from around the country. After learning how their driving habits, and general operation of their vehicles differ from passenger cars, we set out to develop the necessary technology to accommodate this vast marketplace.
In 1995 Congress passed the Omnibus Transportation Act which requires companies to randomly test drivers for alcohol consumption. Unfortunately, random testing does not ensure that drivers will not drink after the test or when a driver has not been randomly selected for such a test. In other words, the technology never caught up with the law. That's why we developed the C-2!
